Now in its 63rd edition, this beloved festival is a true feast for the senses. Imagine 30 passionate local wine producers pouring their best vintages, alongside 31 local tourist organizations each preparing delicious regional dishes — all set up under the cheerful tents of the Pavia Market. With 6,000 seats, it's a celebration big enough for locals, visitors, and anyone ready to fall in love with Monferrato (if you haven't already 💕). From Friday evening to Sunday night, you'll find long communal tables full of laughter, clinking glasses, and plates piled high with Monferrato's specialties. But the fun doesn't stop at the food stalls! All around Casale, the weekend comes alive with:

🌟 Events All September Long

The Wine Festival isn't just a weekend — it's a month-long celebration of Monferrato's culture and flavors.
It all kicks off on September 4th with Attraverso, a festival of music and art that fills the streets with creativity and color.
Then, from September 12th to 14th, the beloved Casale Città Aperta returns, opening the city's most beautiful monuments and historic buildings for free visits. It's the perfect way to wander, learn, and soak in centuries of charm.

🍇 A Little History in Every Glass

Here in Piedmont, wine isn't just a drink — it's a way of life. But Casale Monferrato holds a special place in Italian wine history. Did you know this town helped shape the very concept of DOC wines (Denominazione di Origine Controllata)?

Back in 1963, local senator Paolo Desana signed the law that officially made Monferrato the home of DOC wines across Italy. In fact, this journey began even earlier — in 1888, when Monferrato's leaders first worked to recognize the value of our region's "typical wines." 🍾

No wonder Casale became the perfect host for a festival that celebrates not just wine, but the heritage, craftsmanship, and pride that go into every bottle.

🥂 From Grapes to Glory: A Festival with Deep Roots

The first seeds of the event were planted in 1924 by winemaker Arturo Marescalchi, who dreamed of a joyful gathering to honor wine through art and imagination. By 1930, that dream became the first Grape Festival — and the rest is history!

After many evolutions, pauses, and revivals, the festival found its modern rhythm in 2000, transforming into today's Monferrato Wine Festival we know and love — now centered in the Pavia Market, surrounded by laughter, live music, and the unmistakable aroma of great wine.
